Biography

Dmitri Zrajevski is professor of conducting, orchestration and harmony at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec

Since 2020, he has led the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra in a variety of concerts and opera productions. That same year, he began his collaboration with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, first as interim assistant conductor, later as artistic consultant and guest conductor. 

In 2022, he stepped in at short notice to conduct Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. Following this success, he was immediately invited back to conduct The Nutcracker later that year, returning for the production in 2023, 2024 and 2025. 

In 2021, Dmitri was selected for the biennial RBC Canadian Conductor Showcase with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, which led to a reengagement in 2023 to conduct at the Winnipeg New Music Festival. That same year, he conducted Jean-Michel Blais’s aubades orchestrales, first at the Grand Théâtre de Québec and later at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. 

In 2024, he made his debut with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, performing with the brass quintet Buzz Cuivres. In 2025, he was invited to guest conduct the Orchestre symphonique de Drummondville.

Holding a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and a bachelor’s degree in composition and music theory from the Université de Montréal, Dmitri has further refined his craft in Canada, the United States, and Europe, working with internationally renowned conductors such as Bramwell Tovey, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniel Raiskin, Yoav Talmi, Gilles Auger, Alexis Hauser, Mark Gibson, and Jonathan Brett.
